Our Story: A Decade of English Mastiff Love
Our journey began over ten years ago with a single English Mastiff who completely stole our hearts. What started as a family adopting one playful, long-bodied pup soon blossomed into a lifelong passion for the breed. Ethical Breeding Practices & Our Certifications
Ethical breeding is the heart of our operation. We follow the highest standards because it’s the right thing to do for our dogs and for the families who trust us with their future pet. As a result, we have earned a strong reputation among the Mastiff community as breeders who truly care. So what do our ethical breeding practices look like in action?
First and foremost, we put our dogs’ welfare above all else. Our breeding dogs are never over-bred. Each mother dog has only a limited number of litters in her lifetime, with plenty of rest time in between, as recommended by veterinary experts. We retire our moms young enough to enjoy many years as spoiled pets. All our dogs live in-home with us (or with a close family member in a guardian home arrangement) – we do not keep dogs in cages or separate facilities. They sleep in our bedrooms or living room, play in our fenced yard, and go on family outings when possible. Happy, healthy parent dogs create happy, healthy puppies.
We are fully licensed and insured as required, and we stay educated on best practices. We’re proud to be in good standing with the American Kennel Club (AKC), and all our litters are AKC registerable, reflecting their purebred English Mastiff lineage. In fact, we strictly adhere to the AKC Code of Ethics for breeders and the guidelines of the Mastiff Club of America. This means we never engage in harmful breeding trends or “shortcut” methods. Our goal aligns with that of any reputable breeder: to produce healthy, well-tempered dogs that meet the breed standard. We do not breed for any extreme or rare features that might compromise a Mastiff’s health (for example, we avoid ultra-tiny “teacup” sizes or unusual coat colors that aren’t part of the official standard). Every mating is carefully planned with the health and temperament of the puppies in mind.
Transparency is another key part of our ethics. We welcome prospective puppy parents to meet us and our dogs (either in person or via video call if you’re distant) so you can see the loving environment your puppy is coming from. We will happily show you where the puppies are raised and introduce you to the pup’s mom (and dad, if he’s on site or via photos). We also ask you plenty of questions as a buyer – not to pry, but to ensure our puppies are going to safe, committed homes. We view adopting a puppy as entering a mutual relationship: we’re here to support you, and we appreciate when families stay in touch with updates over the years! Moreover, we stand by every puppy we place. If for any reason you cannot keep your Mastiff, our contract stipulates that the dog should be returned to us — we will always take our puppies back rather than see them end up in a shelter. Responsible breeding doesn’t end at the sale; it’s a lifelong commitment to the dogs we bring into the world.

Health & Wellness: Our Commitment to Healthy English Mastiff Puppies
At Elite Mastiff, health is our absolute priority. We are deeply committed to raising puppies that are not only adorable and well-socialized, but also strong and healthy. Our breeding adults are cherished family members, and we ensure they are in excellent health before they are ever bred. Each parent dog undergoes thorough veterinary exams and health screenings regularly. In line with Mastiff Club of America recommendations, we conduct genetic tests and obtain official certifications to screen for hereditary issues. All our mom and dad Mastiffs are tested for PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) and have annual CAER eye exams, along with Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) clearances for their hearts and patellas (kneecaps). These health tests help us select only the best, healthiest dogs for our breeding program, so that our puppies have the greatest chance at long, disease-free lives. We also pay close attention to nutrition and exercise for our adult dogs – a healthy parent tends to produce healthy pups. Our expectant mama dogs get premium quality food, prenatal vet care, and a comfortable, stress-free environment as they prepare to welcome their litter.For the puppies themselves, we follow a rigorous health protocol from birth onward. Newborn pups are monitored around the clock, and we record their weight gains daily to ensure everyone is nursing well. We work closely with our veterinarian at every stage. Each puppy receives:Thorough Veterinary Exams: Our vet checks the puppies multiple times – at newborn stage, during vaccinations, and a final head-to-tail health exam before they go home. We make sure each puppy is vet-checked and certified healthy.
Vaccinations & Deworming: Puppies are kept on a veterinarian-recommended vaccination schedule to protect them from common puppy illnesses. They receive all age-appropriate shots before leaving our care. We also perform preventative deworming at regular intervals since puppies are susceptible to worms. You’ll receive complete health records showing the dates of all vaccines and dewormings.
Microchipping: For added security, we have each puppy microchipped (a tiny, permanent ID under the skin) before adoption, for those families who want it. This gives peace of mind in case a puppy ever gets lost – any vet or shelter can scan the chip to reunite you. (If a family prefers to handle this on their own, we accommodate that, but we strongly recommend microchipping for every pet’s safety.)
Health Guarantee: We are confident in our breeding and care, so we provide a written health guarantee for every puppy. This typically covers genetic health conditions for a certain period. In the rare event an issue arises, we stand by our puppies and will work with you to make sure the puppy gets proper care or even offer a replacement, as outlined in our guarantee. Our goal is your peace of mind that you’re bringing home a healthy English Mastiff puppy.
